Scarlet - Chapter 3

Chapter Three
The Search

*knock knock* “Is anyone in? Its officer Thomson I am with the local police department, I would like to ask you a few questions if I could get just a moment of your time please?” Then the door opens slightly “yes officer how can I help?” Then Thomson stood there explaining that he was looking for a young girl, with long shiny black hair and as he was talking to the guy he remembered where he had seen him before “excuse me but you look very familiar to me, where do you work?” and then the guy explained everything and told Thomson his name which was Alex Carter and also told him where he works which was the research department in the same police station where Thomson works and then Thomson replied “that’s right I remember you now” As they got to know each other better, they then got back to the subject of that girl Thomson is looking for. Thomson then asked Carter if he had seen her before, which he had, she was the girl that had just left his apartment “That was her!!!” Thomson then ran down the stairs to see if he could catch her but by the time he got downstairs she had gone. He then made his way back inside and back to Carter’s place to see why she came to see him and then Carter said “I take it that was the girl you were looking for, may I ask why?” Then Thomson replied “yeah, she stole a piece of evidence from me and I need to ask her why and just some general questions” and then Carter lifts up a button from a piece of clothing and shows it to Thomson “is this it?” Thomson took a small breath “yes, that’s it, but why did she give it to you?” Carter then explained everything to him on why she brought the button to him because she wants to know herself if there is any fingerprints on it so she can find out who and what happened to Scarlet in the alley near the club in town and another reason was because they are very close to each other so she trusts him. After Carter explained everything to Thomson, Carter started to examine the button and then found a finger print and said “It’s …” with both shock and confusion they both look at each other and realise that they have discovered a very strange piece of information, which will take them a long time to figure out.

Meanwhile back at the station officer Chalat is curious to where her partner Thomson has gone off to, so she goes to his desk to see if she can find any information on where he’s gone and what he’s doing. As she got to his desk she noticed that it was very tidy and that everything was in order for a change, so it should be easy to find out what he’s doing, so while she was looking around she found an address in one of his notebooks in his desk draws, and she then took the address so she can find out the whereabouts’ of Thomson and the address turned out to be Alex Carters, which was her ex-boyfriend of all people. Chalat got in to her car and headed off to Carters apartment, but before she left she remembered what Carter doe’s for a living and wondered why Thomson would go there, one of the reason’s was that he had lost a piece of evidence , so she left right away to see she could catch him before he leaves Carters. Thirty-three minutes later she gets to Carters place, but she was to late Thomson had already left and then Chalat and Carter ended up chatting about what’s been going on here so she could write everything down in her report which she got told to do at the start of this case. As she finished writing what she needed to get, she stayed round Carters for the night, for a bit of a chat and drink but when the night went on she noticed that she still had feelings for him. About three hours later at 3am Carrie-Anne was sitting on an old wooden fence down town in Stoutford not far from where Scarlett was allegedly raped and murdered, Carrie was just sitting there thinking to herself about what’s happened to Scarlett and if she can remember anything important that will help to find her. As Carrie sat there, rain poured down heavily and with each drop came a minor flashback of the night Scarlett vanished and as the flashbacks started to get more clear and precise, she sees something that she did just after Scarlett left the club.

Flashback: Back on the night of Scarlett’s disappearance it all started off at the local night club, and in the club Skrillex’s cover of Benny Benassi’s song cinema was on in the background and Scarlet had just left. While Carrie stayed behind for one more drink, she was standing at the bar a she noticed a group of men staring at her and when she turned to the bar to get a glass of Jack Daniel’s, she turned back around to see if the guys were still there, but they had just left not long after Scarlet had just gone and then all four of the men had gone apart from one who stayed at their table and he was still looking at Carrie, so she then walked over to him and asked “Do you mind if I sit here please?”  Which he was fine with and they then exchanged names “Hey, my names Aaron Phillips” Carrie slightly smiled, but not a big smile to make sure she’s not coming on to strong but a smile that will look like she’s having fun but not looking for any intimacy “My names Carrie-Anne but you can call me Carrie.” After they had introduced themselves to each other Carrie came out and said it right away “Why were you and your friends looking at me and my girlfriend?” Aaron then giggled and said “Because we thought you both were gorgeous” Carrie then had a puzzled look on her face ‘Even though this guy is flirting with me, did he not notice that me and Scarlet were kissing earlier, hmm’ Then throughout the night Carrie saw Aaron looking at his phone a lot and wondered why, but she never thought anything of it and then he suddenly had to leave but left some money for Carrie to have another drink on him.

Present Day; Carrie’s eyes open and awakes from the black out and she is surprised after just realising that she might have just found a connection to the disappearance/murder of Scarlet, she then leaps of the fence and starts heading towards the police station. As Carrie got the station and asks so see someone in charge of the Scarlet case and they asked “Why” and she then replied “because I have got some information that might help us get closer to the killers of the suspected murder of my friend Scarlet, so please can I have at least the number of Officer Thomson please?” the receptionist sighed “ok here’s the number to Officer Thomson, make sure you call him right away and don’t tell him I gave you his number, now go.” Carrie left the station and then leaned on one of the metal smoking shelters outside and started to dial Thomson’s number.
